The Book Of Me: Prompt 12 –The Year You Were Born

I was born in the decade of the sixties.

My life started with my mother in the Naval Hospital. She was alone at the hospital dealing with preeclampsia. My father was station a couple of hours away. My mother’s mother was across the nation. So my brave young mother was having her first child and she did well, a healthy seven pound baby girl.

I wore cotton diapers with pins before Pampers (Disposable diapers) became the norm.

I was a Brownie in the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.

                                                   The Girl Scout Law is:
I will do my best to be, Honest and fair, Friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, Couragous and strong, Responsible for what I say and do, And to respect myself and others, Respect authority, Use resources wisely, Make the world a better place, And be sister to every Girl Scout.

My favorite Barbie doll was her friend Stacey. I will continue to search for her at my father’s home when I go visit him. He has several storage buildings filled with stuff.

My childhood crush was Elvis Presley

         Motown Music

I was fortunate to have two parents that loved music, they listen to the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Sam Cooke, Temptations, Fifth Dimensions and Glen Campbell, to name a few.

The television was an invited family member, it made us happy and sad. It made us laugh on Saturday morning and be scared on Saturday night. We loved the reruns of the 1940’s and 1950’s shows.

Thank you Imogene for reading the post about me, since one day I will be someone’s ancestor and it will be easier for the future researcher to learn about me.
