Hello Stephani              I thank you for your research efforts on the Muggah side. It is a distant link between us but a link all the same. We know that the original Muggah in La. came from Scotland and that he was a nephew of our first settler in Sydney Cape Breton circa 1784, John Muggah, and that their point of departure was Fochabers near the North East coast of Scotland. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fochabers           However, I believe they actually lived somewhat inland to the south west of Fochabers on the River Spey as farmers or crofters in the district then known as Banffshire  and now know as Morayshire. The shire borders having migrated over the years.

Our paper links to those Scottish relatives in Scotland are quite meagre. No correspondence exists and although we have gravesites/birth/death records from county/church parish records I have never met a Scottish Muggah. Bethany Butman is the singular Louisiana relative from that migration.                                                            Best Regards                                                     Henry

Hello Henry, Bethany and I are cousins and descendants of the same John Muggah. So if you saying that she is the singular relative living in Louisiana, that is incorrect. there are other Muggah descendants that live in Louisiana. Thank you for your information. Happy New Year, Stephani

    Dear Stephani:
I hope that you will come to New Orleans very soon so we can meet as we are both descendants of the same man, James Muggah. We can also go to the Historic New Orleans Collections where I donated the Muggah papers I had inherited from my grandmother. These include a lot of the writings of James Muggah.
I am currently in NYC, but will be back in New Orleans in mid- March.

    Happy Mardi Gras, cousin!
